The Caid, A Moroccan Chief is an oil painting by Eugne Delacroix. This painting was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1838. Delacroix was inspired to paint this image based on his first-hand account of a peaceful meeting with a Moroccan Chief during his travels. The Caid one horseback is depicted in the center of the painting. He is surrounded by his entourage holding flags and bystanders that are looking at him. This scene takes place in the countryside and Delacroix shows the beautiful Moroccan landscape in the background.
