About
This piece was painted during Kirchner’s time in Switzerland, where he settled fter his time in the war. Previously his artistic focus had been moreso on people and city life, but in the years closer to his passing he opted for more landscapes and mountain scenes. The focal point of the painting is the two, towering larch trees; however, one can see the wealth of other flora around, as well as the mountains in the distance, reaching towards the pale blue sky.
