About
Le Baiser, translating to “the Kiss” in English, depicts an active moment in which a female kisses a younger female, perhaps a mother and daughter. The square composition of the artworks draws the viewer’s focus to the faces of both figures. Nourse observes naturalism and uses the strokes and colors of the pastel to capture the complexion and details of the faces and to capture the momentary gesture of tenderness and intimacy.
