House Wall on the River is an urban landscape painting of Schiele’s. Schiele details the lines of each window and board on the wall of a house, which he mirrors on to the river below. He employs a variety of brown and red hues, differentiating each house detail from the next. The line of clothes being the only element with an elevated vibrancy, yet still connecting with the colors of the rest of the painting.
