Edward S. Curtis documented the lives of Native Americans in the early twentieth century through his photography. This charming portrait depicts four Hopi women atop a Walpi Pueblo, watching a traditional dance performance as the title suggests. Although the women’s backs are to the viewers, this image still provides a great deal of engaging personality.
