About
This photograph depicts the Apache’s traditional infant burial, which is different from an adult child because they believe the infant is not strong enough to escape the rocks used in the regular grave. The infant is covered in cloth and placed face-up in its carrier on the upper branches of a large cedar or pinon tree.
