About
Nighthawks, one of the best-known images of twentieth-century art, depicts a diner in the intersection of two streets. The large picturesque windows allow the viewer to see inside the restaurant. The light emerging from the interior highlights the scene and focuses the viewer on the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, three customers sit at the table and a server in the middle, none of them are interacting and all of them seem to be lost in their thoughts. The lack of narrative creates a timeless image and can transcend city.
