About
Cobb’s House was a subject that Hopper often painted in his artwork. His rendition of the concept concerns the difficulties of the Depression and the abandoned farms in America. The ideas of abandonment, loneliness, and isolation can be seen in the dark colors of the house. Hopper layered black on top of the paneling of the house to capture the desolation of the place. This contrasts with the natural colors of the landscape, as Hopper highlights the relationship between humans and nature.
