About
American Landscape is an etching depicting rural American life. The unconventional rural life shows the cows climbing over railroad tracks and walking towards a tall house and smaller outbuildings. The composition presents a balance between the untouched openness of the sky and the concentration bottom. The grass foreground etched with long stokes is separated from the rest of the composition with the straight line of the railroad. In the back, it is evident that the house is in isolation as it has nothing behind it but trees.
