Purdy leaves the face of this woman blank, but colors the rest of her figure in rich detail. Her long black hair is tied at the end in bows, she wears a patterned and multicolor outfit, and holds an umbrella over her head. As the title reveals, this summertime scene is complete with flowers and a partly cloudy sky. Her work is done on an antique piece of ledger paper, which references the art of 19th century Plains Indians who often repurposed this type of paper for their drawings.
