About
Untitled (Bridgeworkers) is an abstract painting depicting three men on beams constructing a bridge. Only the outlines of the men are shown without any other detail, this is exaggerated by the contrast between the white background and the black forms. In the background, there are outlines of buildings and the cityscape. This painting concerns a common theme of Rivera’s which includes the heroic portrayals of workers. By taking out the detail, viewers can appreciate the forms and see their movement and the danger involved in the work.
