About
This painting depicts an aqueduct on the outskirts of a town. Water runs by around the aqueduct creating an outline that is emphasized by a line of trees next to the aqueduct. The grey sky serves as a background, and smaller houses can be seen through the aqueduct openings. Rivera contrasted the manmade objects and nature through the colors. The manmade objects were grey and dark brown whilst nature was represented by green. The contrast between these two is a common theme found in his paintings as he analyzes the manmade effects on a landscape.
