About
In the biblical tale, the woman named Bathsheba is overseen by King David while being bathed by her maids. The two conceive of a son although they both are married, and because of this many problems arise for David. Eventually, they give birth to Salomon, making Bathsheba the Queen Mother. In Gentileschi’s depiction, Bathsheba sits on a balcony and three maids attend to her bathing water, hair, and jewelry.
