About
he U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps started programs to design and build assault gliders and to train and equip crews to fly them starting in 1941. Here, a marine is seen in one of the gliders.
The Farm Security Agency (FSA) and the Office of War Information (OWI) commissioned many photographers to document the war effort. Palmer toured aviation plants and air fields in his short time with the FSA/OWI as war broke out.
