About
In Cyclist and Crow, Colville implores his signature frozen suspense composition as a cyclist observes a crow across the adjacent field. The viewer is denied a direct gaze on the face of the cyclist and instead is directed to share her glimpse at the fleeting bird. The hyper-realistic style of the painting’s surface contributes to the sense of suspense and serenity within the scene.
