About
In this somewhat upbeat composition, a young woman appears to be leaping or running in the foreground of the composition, with a Berlin bus occupying most of the background. Colville renders the image in his signature quasi-pointillist realism: each square inch of the work is treated with the same attention to detail. While passengers occupy the background vehicle, there is an air of ambiguity about the woman in the foreground – it is unclear if she is running in an attempt to catch the fleeing bus, in hopes of not having to wait for another, or if she frolics independently of the cityscape behind her.
