About
One of the fifteen woodcuts done for the illustrated interpretation of The Apocalypse, this scene shows Saint John’s Vision of the Seven Candlesticks. White fluffy clouds dot the background and juxtapose the harsher outlines of the kneeling Saint John and the haloed, sword carrying Son of Man. Around the two figures, seven candlesticks, each with a unique design, burn with small flames.
