About
Part of his thirty-seven woodcut series titled Small Passion, Durer’s images detail Christ nailed to the Cross, the Crucifixion of Christ, Christ’s descent into Limbo, and Christ’s body removed from the Cross. Durer carefully displays the body positions of Christ, showing His outstretched and limp form during his time crucified and his bent figure helping others in the crowded world of Limbo.
