About
Bierstadt’s landscape shows sunlight reflecting off of the waters and plains of Yosemite Valley. From behind a smooth cliffside, the half-mooned sun shines down and bathes the green and red trees in a vivid golden light. Following his trip to the American West, Bierstadt painted multiple images of Yosemite, comparing its natural atmosphere to that of the Garden of Eden.
