Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts
The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in downtown Little Rock will open in April 2023 with a new building designed by world-renowned architectural firm Studio Gang. The Museum’s open, socially oriented redesign aligns with AMFA’s mission to create a welcoming, community-centered space.
Founded by women in 1914, the Fine Arts Club of Arkansas established the collection and gallery that would grow into the Museum of Fine Arts, it opened in MacArthur Park in 1937. Featuring a stunning Art Deco façade built by artists of the Works Progress Administration, the Museum of Fine Arts was the first museum dedicated to the fine arts in the state of Arkansas. The Museum’s permanent collection boasts over 14,000 works and spans six centuries, with strengths in works on paper and contemporary craft, and includes notable holdings by artists from Arkansas, the Mid-South region, and across the United States.
