Vladimir Borovikovsky

August 4, 1757 - April 18, 1825


Vladimir Lukich Borovikovsky was a Ukrainian artist during the time when his country was part of the Russian Empire. He worked in the Imperial Court for Catherine the Great and was renowned for his portraits of the Empress and her court. His were often intimate portrayals rather than formal sittings.

The portrait of Borovikovsky shown in our search page was painted by Ivan Bugaevskiy-Blagodarniy in 1824.
