Born in Pimpama, Queensland, Australia, Lahey is
recognized for her vibrant use of colors in her watercolors and oil paintings. Her unique coloring of still life flowers gained her recognition at the Royal Queensland Art Society\’s annual exhibitions. She has been described as an artist whose work transcended that of the traditional Victorian genteel lady artist.
Queensland Art Gallery has created a scholarship
known as \”The Vida Lahey Memorial Traveling Scholarship\” in honor of Lahey.
