Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish-born painter who was active in the Parisian avant-garde scene during the 1920s. Her paintings are distinctively Art Deco, and she was inspired by both Renaissance and Mannerist art and Cubism. Her work was revisited in the 1960s along with a renewed appreciation for Art Deco. Today, her work is held in many permanent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
