Ruth Asawa

Ruth Asawa was an American artist famous for both her sculptures and large public works such as the fountains in San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square. She was educated at Black Mountain College, and her work was shaped by professors like Josef Albers. Her sculptures employ basket weaving techniques and are based in 20th century ideas of abstraction.
