Nava Lubelski is an American-born (1968) contemporary artist whose work often encompasses many different media and embraces notions of restorative labor, invested in the processes of destruction and repair. One common formal approach within her work is using thread, yarn, and other materials to repair, or rather make anew, linens, and canvases which have been torn and stained. The end result is a visually striking vehicle for the dichotomy between quick, senseless destruction and careful, thoughtful restoration.
