""
Michelangelo Buonarroti (March 6, 1475–February 18, 1564) was an Italian Renaissance sculptor, painter, poet, and architect. Changing many current perceptions of art in Europe and beyond, Michelangelo is one of the most famous artists of all time. His frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel are what he is most known for, although the artist mainly identified as a sculptor.
