Born in Paris, Marie’s father encouraged her to make her own way. She studied in the atelier of the preeminent artist of the time, Jacque-Louis David. She exhibited in the Salon de Paris and her painting “Portrait of Madeleine” was acquired by King Louis the 18th. Her neoclassical style focuses on historical and mythological figures using allegory to deepen her portraiture.
