Maria Helena Vieira de Silva
Maria Helena Vieira de Silva was a French-Portuguese painter who studied under artists like Fernand Léger during her early career in Paris. Her own style, which is sometimes compared to Abstract Expressionism and Tachisme, is considered a leading example of the Art Informel movement. In this style, her work straddles the line of representation and abstraction. She stuck to a limited color palette, and her geometric forms are reminiscent of the urban landscape and built environment.
