Hannah Höch

11/01/1889 - 05/31/1978

Hannah Höch was an artist of the Berlin Dada movement in the 1920s and onward. Her famous photomontages appropriate imagery clipped from popular media and compile them in her own constructions that reflect the political and social climate of the time. She was especially vocal through her work on the topic of gender, and many of her artworks critique Weimar Germany’s concept of the “New Woman” or a woman whom they claimed would be man’s equal.
