David Alfaro Siqueiros
David Alfaro Siqueiros was a Mexican artist best known for his large-scale murals. He believed that art and politics were intertwined and felt that he was invigorating classic painting with modern values and contemporary themes. His murals, along with those by Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco, were commissioned by the government and executed on major buildings in Mexico City. Siqueiros’ murals are particularly known for their dramatic look, as the artist often used a limited color palette and dynamic shadows to bring his creations to life. He is also one of the co-founders of the modern school of Mexican mural painting.
