Alison Saar

February 5, 1956 -

The daughter of artist Betye Saar, the Los Angeles based artist Alison Saar reflects on blackness and femininity and their marginalization in her paintings, sculptures, and large scale installations. She uses a combination of found objects and traditional art materials as well as the theme of the human body to shape her practice. Her work is notably displayed in the Walker Institute, the Whitney Museum, and the High Museum.
