In one of his most interesting and unique uses of space, Lawrence creates a desolate depiction of a wood-panelled room, the corner of which acts as a vanishing point for the lonely space. Additionally, he comments of the creation of abandoned Southern towns as an effect of the Mass Migration, leaving many communities unoccupied. The tilted diagonal of the room’s planes suggest an uneasiness to the space and the journey of those who have left it.
