This print depicts a dream of demons breaking loose as a reaction to the reading Uncle Tom's Cabin by Mrs. H. Beecher Stowe. The print can be interpreted as demons coming forth, because the North was taking slavery away, which was he viewed by the South as a God given institution. The demons can also be viewed as the North are the demons taking away slavery from the South.
