Casey Stengel had a long career in baseball, not just as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates in the early twentieth century, but also as a manager for both the New York Yankees and the Mets. He is also know as being the inspiration for the poem, Casey at the Bat.This photograph captures a moment of tense game-playing coupled with boyish charm, as Stengel stares boredly towards the field with his sunglasses on.
